How's the pre-med/bio program at emory? Does anyone know the acceptance rate into med schools from emory?
Any info. will be greatly appreciated :)

I am not sure about the acceptance rate, but I have read that Emory has the highest percentage of students entering medical students in the U.S.

90%
Excelent school for Pre-Meds. One of the reasons I'm going.

if i apply to emory and say that i intend to go pre med, does that decrease my chances because there are so many ppl who apply premed there

does anyone have any personal experience w/ the pre-med program at emory? how was it? anything special to consider?

Pre-med can be tough at Emory. As for bio I don't know that much about the program, but I think it's pretty good. I'm a freshmen who's pre-physical therapy (basically pre-med).

How would I go about getting on the pre-med track? I have always intended to do so, but on my application I mistakenly put biology as my major instead of pre-med. Do you think they'll give me a hard time switching?

By Whzup44412 (Whzup44412) on Friday, January 02, 2004 - 12:07 pm: Edit

Kkgirl06- Pre-med is not a major. Pre-med is a set up 5 introductory or higher courses in Biology, Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics. Any student taking any major (from music to history) can be pre-med. If you want to be a bio major, it was good that you put that on your app.

Thanks for the info., whzup, but on emory's app. where you could designate your intended major I could have checked the box that said "Pre-Med" as opposed to the box that said "Biology." What do you think the difference is between those who checked "Biology" but intend to go pre-med and those who checked "Pre-Med?" Your opinion on this would really be appreciated; you seem to be very knowledgeable on the subject. Thanks in advance.

The box you checked on the application means nothing. Nobody cares what you checked, and the fact is that a great number of the Biology majors are pre-meds.

I'm pretty sure when I applied last year the application said possible major. Giants is right, it doesn't matter AT ALL. No one has said anything to me about what I checked. In fact, I don't even remember what I checked.
