Hi. Does anyone know how the pre-med program at U of M is? How well does it prepare you for med school? How are the grades given? Please help!

U of M has one of the best med schools and medical centers in the country. Itis a well respected school. It is definitely good.

UM has no pre-med program. You just take whatever courses you need in order to fulfill the prereq's required at whatever medical schools you're considering. (Luckily, most of them are the same.)

The pre-med courses can be very difficult for some. Just about all of them are curved, so you're competing with your classmates for the A's.

If you can make it through with a good GPA, you will be thoroughly prepared for any medical school in the country.

during the course of your undergraduate career at UM you'll probably have the opportunity to meet professors, doctors, professionals, and researchers from many medical schools including UM, wayne state university, michigan state university, harvard, stanford, and UC-san francisco...they'll all tell you quite bluntly that UM undergrads are some of the most thoroughly prepared and capable students in the nation.

Yea, the University of Michigan Medical School and University Hospital are among the best in the nation according to U.S.News (2003 edition of Top 50 Hospitals; 7th or 9th overall, i forget).

like i said, pre-med is not an area of concentration at UM (it is not available as a major). but you can certainly follow a pre-med track while majoring in EECS. pre-meds at UM study just about everything...english, history, spanish, mathematics, anthropology, as well as the more tradtional bio/chem...
