Hey.
I am a senior in high school, and its that time of year when I must make up my mind on where to apply to. I dont really have a preference on either of the aformentioned schools. I would be happy to get into just one of them. Anyways here are my stats, and I'll see what you guys think.
SAT I
V:670
M:800
I am taking the sat's again this saturday. Aiming for 1500.
SAT II
Biology 800
math IIC 800
writing 800
world history 730
AP Classes
European history
US history
calc AB
biology
5 on all of them
This year I am taking the AP Chem, Ap Statistics, Ap calculus BC, and AP government tests.
GPA. 3.95 unweight
about 4.4 weighted (soph and junior years)
ECs: Club soccer for about 8 years. Played vollegeball junior and senior years= varsity letter this spring.
Last summer I did lab research at the Berkeley Lab. About 350 hours of volunteer hours there
I am vice president of key club-community service club.
life member of CSF (california scholar foundation)
got some random awards for piano back in freshman year
played bass clarinet in the symphonic band for 3 years.
I worked as a soccer referee for about 5 years.
Currently, I work once a week at OfficeMax, about 5 hours a week during the school year.
Theres some other stuff that I put on my applications that I cant remember anymore, but yea. I am going to early action to Caltech, but I would still like to know what my chances are for getting into these schools.
Cal/UCLA
Stanford
Duke
Princeton
Caltech
MIT--> unlikely, yea I know

id say stanford princeton caltech and mit are all super reaches so choose one and only apply to that one. and find some reaches, you can coun duke as one of your reaches, and matches and safeties.
"I would be happy to get into just one of them."
i dont blame you for feeling that way.
what do you want in a school besides pretige? size? anything? i dont see any connection between any of your choices besides the big names.

You're scores are amazing...I trust you'll get that verbal up just by looking at your other scores.
...your chances are definitely better than most.

its cheesy, but Im appying to princeton because my name is Gordon Wu, and it so happens that there is a building in princeton called Gordon Wu Hall. I was shocked when I heard that from the princeton college advistor when she came to our school, so thats when I decided for princeton.
For Duke, I am applying because some of my friends are as well.
Stanford; well its stanford, I live about an hour away from Palo Alto and the campus is amazing.
Cal: I live about 20 minutes from Berkeley. Awesome college atmoosphere.
For CIT and MIT, those are major reaches for me, but math, and especially science have been interesting for me.
I am also doing USC, with some other UC's as backups.

on a random side-note...
i found out Cornell university as a building with my lastname (not a very common one at that)
and then my dad decided to find out who it was and call them up and start a dialogue thinking it might be his long-lost uncle
sadly though he wasn't. but he's giving more money to the school for another building.
and as for chances...all of those are either solid matches or reaches and your in at the UCs.

I'd say your best chance would be Stanford (You're almost surely in at Cal/Duke). Princeton is a snobbish school, so it's harder to predict. Your profile is kinda average for Caltech/MIT, so I would say your chance is 50-50 at those schools.
