i am planning on trying to transfer out of my current college (William Paterson University) in NJ. Over 31 credits that I took freshman year I had about a 3.75 GPA. I had a 1250 (640 Verbal 610 Math) on the SAT's when I took them in highschool. Im retaking them in November and hope to score above 1300.

I really want to go to the Film/TV program at NYU but I know its not a sure thing that I will get in. So I'm trying to figure out what other good film schools I would be able to transfer into with my grades

I would like to either go somewhere in the Northeast, somewhere out in california, or UBC in vancouver

so my question is what my chances are at NYU and at University Of British Columbia as well as what colleges in california that have a strong film program would be a match for me with my grades

In California, look at University of Southern California, Loyola Marymount University, and Chapman University, in that order. Also, although it's more of a broadcast journalism program, you might want to take a look at Syracuse. And, Ithaca as well.

Here are a few more schools to investigate:
Clark (Mass), Bard (NY), Denison (Ohio), Bennington (VT), the College of Santa Fe (NM), U of Pittsburgh (PA), SUNY Purchase (NY), Rochester Institute of TEchnology (NY), Sarah Lawrence (NY), Towson State (MD), Temple (PA). Best of luck!
