What top LACs should I try for
Is Carleton too much of a crapshoot?

Secondly would a recording of me playing my rock and roll on my guitar help me get in anywhere, I sound remarkably like Jimmy Page ;)

LOL - your last question made me instantly think of HENDRIX college as a possibility (great little school by the way).

Anyhow, I'd say Carleton is a realistic reach for you, possibly even a match. Beyond that I can't make any suggestions without some more info: are you looking at any particular area of the country? Do you care if the school is in an urban or rural area? What are you interested in studying? Will you need financial aid or are you hoping for merit money? Do you want a school with a big Greek scene? With a liberal or preppy or somewhere in between student body? etc. etc.

Carleton would be a match if you can write good essays that show your personality.

I wouldn't submit any guitar playing unless you're exceptionally good. The music department will tear you to shreds otherwise.
