I recently read a book about college admission written from a women who was an admissions officer at Duke for 3 years. Excellent book, you should look into it: Admissions Confidential. Anyway, she said when she was reading engineering applications TEST SCORES were extremely important, so, just to be safe you might want to retake your sat and aim for a 1400+ and you're in! She said EC's didn't matter that much if you were a strong tester.
Glad I could help!

What is your SATI breakdown? They'll want to see a strong math score.

...so your composite would be 1410.
Nice math score, btw.

but what about Duke's reputation for engineering?
I also plan to apply to Duke... since you're talking about scores, will I get in?
SAT verbal 670
math 790
math iic predicted:800
physics 800
chem predicted:800

CATCHER, you have a shot at Duke. It is a bit of a reach, but you are certainly going to be considered.
WANT, Duke is good but not great in Engineering...unless you are interested in Bioengineering, in which case, they are awesome. In specialties, like Mechanical, Chemical and Electrical etc...Duke is not that great. But they are still good. One of my best friends got his BS in Electrical at Duke and is now getting his PhD at Stanford, so they are certainly respected.

Duke doesnt have chemical engineering, which would explain their relatively low reputation there. They have Biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, civil and environmental engineering, and Electrical and Computer Engineering. Half of the engineers do BME or a BME-something else double major.

Many well-regarded engineering programs do not offer Chemical Engineering because ChemE is by far the MOST expensive engineering major to fund. ChemE majors need big, expensive to acquire and operate process devices that require big and expensive spaces to house them. But that’s why ChemE is SO COOL! The TOYS!!!
