Good grades, great scores. ECs are a little lame. I'd say you have an ok shot.
By Liquidfox (Liquidfox) on Saturday, September 25, 2004 - 10:16 am: Edit
Thanks for the response!
Yea...I suppose they are lame.
What would you say about my German probem?
Anyone else?
Thnx.
By Ralkas (Ralkas) on Saturday, September 25, 2004 - 10:40 am: Edit
lol, I have a German problem too . . . I got a B in German sophomore and junior year. WTF it's like the hardest class in my school to get an A in. Why did we take German?? Ugh
By Ralkas (Ralkas) on Saturday, September 25, 2004 - 10:40 am: Edit
I'm worried that colleges will frown upon my German grade too . . . this really sucks doesn't it?
By Liquidfox (Liquidfox) on Saturday, September 25, 2004 - 12:46 pm: Edit
Sure does!
I hope it won't affect us that much.
Well, you shouldn't worry at least.
We are much in the same, you and I, (MGS QUOTE)
but your German weakness is a B (and I got a C)
your ECs are great w/ the state rep part espec. (and mine are just okay)
you are an under-represented-minority (and I'm asian)
So hopefully you at least should be okay..good luck w/ Wharton!!
BUMP - anyone want to contribute? Thnx.

weak E.C. and withdrawing ur AP scores is not smart. Your going to have a lot of adcoms wondering about those empty spaces in ur AP score reporting. They're going to assume that you got really bad scores.

for god's sake don't bump this again!
you have a decent shot. i really DO NOT see you getting into an ivy. maybe penn regularly, but not wharton.
throw in some other schools if you get deferred ED, and focus on other ivies/subivies.
(your lack of ECs is a huge deal at princeton/wharton/columbia, and you have quite a few poor marks, even though the rest is solid.)

what are you guys talkin about...he's got plenty of ECs...

Burutzagiuribe: Not even if I use early decision?
I really want to get into Princeton or Wharton
.
Irock1ce: About the AP scores...I hope you're wrong. There are many people every year who have blan score right. Surely they can't really believe all of those 1500+ ppl have ones and twos...right?
In any case, thanks for your responses.

No offense, but I don't see you getting into Princeton, not to be mean or anything, and it isn't your German grade. It is the fact that (not to be mean again) there is nothing special. Being the valedictorian might help, but probably not, assuming that all the thousands of them all applied to the same school. From Princeton, virtually everyone there already has the 1600, the valedictorian title, and sports/EC. Good luck though! :D

Thanks for the response Glucose.
I see what you mean.
What would you say my percentage chance at Princeton is: 1 in 4? 1 in 5?
I suppose I could have a somewhat considerable chance only if I applied ED, huh?
I know the odds are against me....my three choices are all tops....

With good recs and very well done essays you have a decent shot. Focus your references on the things you think will make you stand out.

"What would you say my percentage chance at Princeton is: 1 in 4? 1 in 5? "
The average acceptance rate is about 1 in 10. I'd say you mabye have 1 in 15 chances.
