Yes, I did actually. Who are you, Savedbythebell7?

i had VERY similar stats as you and got into SD and SB out of those 4.
But i applied to a difficult Engineering major, so I'm sure that hurt my chances a bit. If youre not applying to engineering, and have good essays, Id say youre into SD and SB, with a decent chance to get into LA, and a bit less of a chance to Cal.

Well, from your EC's alone you look to have a strong chance at UCLA (as the school heavily favors sports). Add your good grades and test scores and this is what I think:
UCLA: Match
UCB: Slight Reach
UCSD: Safe Match
UCSB: Safety

I disagree JI87d....that may be the case if the poster is a recruited athlete (are you, btw?), but just an "interest" in sports won't do it. If he's not recruited, I'd change it to:
UCLA: slight reach
UCB: Slight Reach
UCSD: Match
UCSB: Match/Safe

http://www.princetonreview.com/college/research/profiles/admissions.asp?listing=1023371<ID=1
Average (mean) UC GPA: 3.98
SAT: 1140-1350 (25%-75%)
Basketball, although your GPA is just (slightly) below the 50% range, your SAT more than makes up for it. I stand by my assertion that UCSD is a match....UCSD has become a safety for very few. You've got a wonderful shot at all the UC's....Good Luck!!!

Baseketball22:
UCLA: Match
UCB: Match
UCSD: Safe Match
UCSB: Safety

What is a "UC GPA?" How do they calculate it?

do u guys think it is better to have ECs like sports, rather than trying to sound all nerdy and joining like math and science clubs just to look good??
| By Sbhopeful (Sbhopeful) on Saturday, August 28, 2004 - 02:42 pm: Edit |
participate in EC's YOU enjoy....never do an EC just for the sake of looking good to colleges. With that said, I think the ideal candidate has a healthy mix of the "nerdy" EC's (clubs, etc.), and sports. Schools want well rounded candidates.
