oh yeah i forgot to add i am a soon to be national merit semifinalist. i'm not really quite sure what i want to major in yet tho, but i am really interested in economics/business, political science, medicine, and spanish sooooo hopefully i can think of a way to combine all my interests into a rewarding career, but i'll most likely end up applying as an undecided major. thanks!

I know a girl who got into UVA with similar/less credentials than that- i'd say you have a really good chance

Illegallyblonde is a Southern belle if I recall. I think from Arkansas or Alabama.
At any rate, I agree that you are a very realistic match for UVA. What other schools are you applying to? Didn't your mom go to Michigan?

Illegally - I would say a realistic chance, class rank being the only holdback, and if you're from MB or one of the Huntsville schools, etc, that probably won't matter as much. Discuss with your counselor, s/he has experience getting kids into UVa, evidently.
I'm in Al,too. Daughter's school also typically sends 1 person to UVa (4 of the last 5 years), credentials in the ballpark with yours, often Echols Scholar. DD's scores, etc are very similar, and her counselor felt she had a good shot, but she's interested in LACs. Good Luck

Cangel- why yes i am from MB, if we are talking about the same MB here (its in birmingham)? how did you know? lol anyway yea we do have a pretty good college counselor, but i am gonna try to improve my class rank this semester so i am more solidly in the top 5%, like maybe around #10 or so would be nice.....anyway thanks for your comments!

Yes, the one in B'ham - there are not that many schools in AL that fit the size and send a student to UVa each year.
