I won't quantify it with a percentage, but I'd say your chances are very good. Ok, ok... probably about 85% chance considering your gpa and Indian descent. A 50-100 point increase in your SAT and maybe a couple more ECs would probably make you a near shoe-in, but I have friends who got in with similar and lower stats.
Good Luck!

GPA - Top 4% is very good, within top 5%
SAT - A little bit on the low side.
EC - I'm trying to look for something you were invested in but not seeing too much.
I would say CAS is a Match/Reach. I would rate your chances at 40-50% regular decision and 60-75% early decision.

I didn't know people from Fiji were classified as Indian, but I would guess you'd know better than I. Anyway, that should help you, especially if you were born there.

lol No, he's asking if pupsingh is another name for collegewannabe. It's this guy's username. He is always posting for his chances at NYU.
Good chances btw. Try to get your SAT I up a little. Aim for 1350 or higher. What's your major? If your going for Stern, I'd say you have little chance, but CAS should be a good shot.

Pupsingh is an Asian Indian, not a Native American. So no, his race will not help him or hurt him. I would definitely raise my SAT score. Otherwise, you are in decent shape.

anyone know the variation on selectivity in the individual schools? I'm between Gallatin and Steinhard, does anyone know which is more selective?
| By Sybbie719 (Sybbie719) on Saturday, July 31, 2004 - 10:11 am: Edit |
Steinhardt (School of Ed) is more selective than Gallatin (School of Individualized studies). The upside to Gallatin is that you can prety much create your own degree
