-Korean female
-first generation to go to college (they don't count uncles and aunts, do they?)
-"hard" background.. I guess.. (it's funny how they automatically classify people under a certain financial background as having had a "hard" life.. LOL But I'm not arguing if it's gonna help me..)
-attends one of the best high schools in so.cal (or so they say.. =/)

anything else?

OKAY, here goes with the stats.

math ic: 730
(i included the math ic because the fact that I'm Korean and I took the SAT II Korean may look.. funny. At least I think it's pretty funny.. :))

Erf.. what else?

-Won some big-time scholarship thingy (or so they keep telling me).. Warren Christopher ring a bell to anyone? $16,000
-going to have 500 hours of comm. service (have 250 and am starting tomorrow to finish the other 250!)
-Golden State Exams in the typical math&science categories.. mostly honors and recognition-- no high honors T_T ^___^
- a lot of ECs but unforunately, not that many leadership positions.. =/
-part of student government (as you can see- Leadership!)..

Eh..

So how does it look? UCLA a match? (I wish I could go back 15 years to when UCLA was a SAFETY.. pooie..)

And just in case some people start berailing UCLA and try to tell me that I'm too good for it (which always makes me laugh..), you're welcome to suggest some places as well! I have no clue to this whole college thingy.. =/ I want to go into psych/business/english maybe? Maybe even pre-law. Big school, near city, preferably! Fin-aid makes me HAPPY!

Thanks<3 CC people are so fricken nice.. (random and totally not sucking up.. ^^)

SAT IIs are a big deal for UCs, I hear... I think taking both IIc and Ic Math looks just as funny as taking Korean (if Korean is your first language or if you were bilingual from birth - if you learned it on your own or whatever then it's not funny at all).

I agree that UCLA should be a 4th or 5th choice. UC Berkeley and Stanford should be your top chocies. UCLA does not offer a BBA option.

If you want to study Business (BBA), I would apply to the following universities:
University of Pennsylvania
MIT
University of Michigan at Ann Arbor
UC Berkeley
NYU

If you want to study Psychology, I would apply to the following schools:
Stanford
University of Michigan at Ann Arbor
UC Berkeley
UCLA
University of Pennsylvania
Yale University
Harvard University
Columbia

If you want to study English, I would apply to the folliwnf schools:
UC Berkeley (I am repeating myself)
Stanford
Princeton
Harvard
Yale
University of Chicago
Columbia

In case you are interested in Law School, the top Law schools are the following:
Cal-Berkeley, Chicago, Columbia, Cornell, Duke, Gerogetown, Harvard, Michigan, New York University, Northwestern, Pennsylvania, Stanford, Yale. All these schools are great places to prepare for law school.

Well, what other SAT II should I have taken in place of the math ic/Korean? I DID take US History (got 680) but that didn't make me very happy. It's kind of a lose-lose situation either way, no? (Btw, I SUCK at science. Don't even try bringing science up to me.. -____-;;;)

And though I was born here, I DO speak Korean at home. If I hadn't gotten that 800, it would've been extremely embarassing, IMO.

LOL I DID mention that people keep TELLING me that my high school is one of the best.. ;] Definitely nothing, imo, up to the par of Whitney or Sunny Hills.

Thanks for all the replies guys. It would make me feel better but I keep remembering how messed up UC admissions can be. -prays-

and Alexandre: WOW. Thanks for all your help. I was seriously lost in what colleges I should apply to (my college counselor is SO biased that she only talks to people whose parents shes friends with--which leaves me in the dust..). Thank you thank you thank you! :)

I think you need to closely check out the requirements for the schools you apply to (possibly call them) and check it out. First of all, if you send your SAT scores to an institution, they get everything - every time you've ever taken the SAT, every time you've taken an SAT II, etc. Ergo, if they weren't okay with math Ic or Korean, they would probably just use your US History score in their consideration. In any event something to think about, maybe get in touch with the places you apply about it. A 680 is fine anyway.
