How prestigious are they? Do colleges really like them? Any other thoughts?

i got the harvard book award at my school

i got the princeton book award at my school.

i don't think they're THAT big a deal, but it's nice to know that the school's alumni committee has your name on file, as they are the ones that choose which students receive the award, and they hold a nice say in who gets interviews, etc.

I thought your teachers decided who gets the awards. They're not based solely on grades, but include more personal aspects that colleges wouldnt know

please, it doesnt make any difference. A book award wont make or break getting into princeton or harvard

Some alumni clubs in some areas give some book awards to some schools for some reasons. A couple of the older alums in our club love the book awards and handle them. The rest of us haven't a clue.
