I thought that Columbia was pretty hard to get into- as hard to get into as HYP. But even though it has like a 12% acceptance rate, it looks like it is on one of the lower tiers of the Ivy Leagues. Can anyone tell me how hard it is to get in to Columbia as compared to Johns Hopkins, or Cornell, or Yale?
Would someone ranked top 10%, maybe 15% in a real good school with 1500+ SAT and 700+ SAT II's have a 50-50 chance at the school?

Somehow, it seems Columbia rejects people accepted at other Ivies and accepts people uniformly rejected at all others. It cares less about SAT scores and class rank and more about well-roundedness and an overall impression of intelligence.
