NYU and BU you are definately in, along with albany stae. Cornell and even more, Columbia are toss-ups

Try to get your SAT above 1500 for Columbia, and if you really want to go there, make sure you apply ED. I'm pretty sure that was what got me in.

You're in at Cornell, Albany State, NYU, and BU. Stanford is unlikely and Columbia is a 50%/50% toss-up.

Cornell, Columbia, and Stanford are definite reachers (with Cornell being the most realistic). NYU seems like a good match for you. None of those schools are 'out of your league'. good luck!

For Columbia, Cornell:
Do you have anything that demonstrates an intellectual curiosity . . . summer college classes, a really tough schedule, an independent research project?
Those types of things will be really critical . . . remember, the Ivies get lots of kids who do well in their grades and ECs; they want "intellectual standouts"
also, try and push up your SAT II scores (you should have 3 in mid to high 700's) and your regular SAT I score . . . don't forget to list any Advanced Placement scores . . .
Good Luck

Good chance at all the schools except a little bit of a challnege for Cornell and a major challenge for Columbia. So what. You don't want to be in a school thats too much of a stretch anyway since you'll have to study forever and college should also be fun! All of these schools are excellent.

over 1500 SATs for Columbia?
I know someone who's going there next year with only a 1320. He took honors classes and APs, but he only took one AP Science (bio). He's also a pretty good soccer player and has good ECs.

one of columbia's biggest factors is the "passion" factor. if you want to get in there badly, find something that you're greatly interested in it and make sure it comes across clearly in your application.

If you get your SAT over 1500, I think you are in at Columbia.

I know very qualified people who got rejected by Columbia. They were 1st and 2nd in the class. You're 20th and don't have amazing ECs or SATs? I don't think it'll happen.
