I realize that very high SAT 1 & 2 scores i.e. 1550+ 770+ x3 don't guarantee admission to top Ivies/Stanford/MIT by any means, but how many of yall out there with these stats didn't get into any of them? The way I see it, an applicant needs a certain amount of acceptibility to be admitted, and the higher the standardized test scores are, the more modest the GPA, ECs, essays, etc. have to be to get admitted.
So, all come forth with comforting words of acceptance or woeful words of denial at everywhere but the most lowly state school.

Hrm... I only had a 1400, but my friend w/ a 1600 was rejected almost everywhere (brown tufts vassar etc etc etc). He only got into Binghamton and Cornell... so off to Cornell goes our young hero...

What was missing in your friend's app? Did he have poor grades or ec's?
