What does "UC" or "URM" stand for?

By Crnchycereal (Crnchycereal) on Saturday, April 10, 2004 - 05:12 pm: Edit

UC stands for "University of California", as in UCLA, UCB, UCSD, etc. URM stands for "under-represented minority", as in blacks, Latinos, and Native Americans (labeled as such because their representation on college campuses is relatively lower than that of their populations as a whole in America).

what about rsi and usamo?

By Crnchycereal (Crnchycereal) on Sunday, April 11, 2004 - 12:26 am: Edit

RSI stands for the Research Science Institute; a summer research program run by MIT that accepts very few applicants, is considered EXTREMELY prestigious, and is allegedly a guaranteed ticket for acceptance to MIT. USAMO stands for the United States of America Mathematical Olympiad.

RSI is a summer program at MIT where if you attend you are basically guaranteed admission to MIT in the fall.
USAMAO stands for United States of America Math Olympiad.
