i got a 1410 on my sats, but it was after a full week of finals in which i got very little sleep, so hopefully i can improve. will this score hinder my chance at getting into UPENN?

Maybe a little, but not too much.
If people could write an excuse for every blemish on their applications, I suppose every person would be worthy of consideration for whatever college they applied to.

Are you saying that someone with a 1410 can't get into UPenn? What the hell is wrong with a 1410? Sounds like a great score to me. It all depends on the rest of your stats, but if I were you, I'm not even sure if I would take it again.
