Hey Guys
I have been hearing a lot here about going to a community college over the summer and taking some classes. Is this really important to colleges. I was planing on taking a class a UNC this summer(I live in Maryland), but it doesn't count as college credit. Should I be taking classes at my local community college? When I looked at their avalible classes the only one I wanted to take was Fenceing :). So what do you guys think about this?

You should pursue over the summer any activity -- job, coursework, volunteer work, structured learning activity at home, travel -- that allows you to go further into an interest or to obtain what you need to go to college (such as if $ is a problem, it would be appropriate for you to work a job).

Colleges aren't looking for any particular activity. They want to see, however, that students aren't slugs. :)
The only bad thing that one could do would be to sit around the house and watch TV or play video games all day unless one planned to go into the video game or television fields.

Thank you very much!!!!!:) I am very happy that I dont have endless CC classes ahead of me.

Hey also when colleges look at volunteer hours do they only look at hours you did in high school???

the only reason i am taking college classes at the university of new orleans this year is because i will be receiving college credit for them. If i weren't i would rather be helping out my family or working at my job.

I'm going to take a course next year at a local college because my school offers very little in course selection. But that's a bit different (during the school year), and it does count for highschool credit despite being a college class.
