Your SAT and GPA (I'm assuming weighted) will certainly hurt you for Penn. Nice AP scores, though. Your ECs are good, but nothing spectacular. You'll probably end up being another lottery ticket, but again, the scores/grades hurt. Have you taken SAT II's yet? Does your school rank?

No, haven't taken sat IIs. No our school doesn't rank. Really? no chance?

not "no chance". I think the cereal guy was implying that you're perhaps a match, maybe reach.

I didn't say you didn't have a chance. I just said your chances are average and your profile can be improved. You still have some time to distinguish yourself, and you'd better start preparing for the SAT II's (June, perhaps?). The fact that your school doesn't rank does hurt you, but will probably be overlooked if your school is well-known/competitive.

I'll definately be taking the Physics SAT II in May as well

What's wrong with his gpa? At my school, anything above 4.0 is considered spectacular. Do you know what percent you are in your class because that would be a better indicator. Also, my friend got in ED to UPenn w/ a 1360 I believe, so I think you definitely have a shot. Good luck!

Your stats look good...I got into Wharton this year with "similar" stats. They are under my profile...make your essays stand out (REALLY EMPHASIZE how much you want to go to Penn - the Penn adcom came to my school and told us that is a HUGE factor in their eyes). Also get good teacher recs and you should be set. Good luck!

Thanks alot, I'll do that. I'm hopin they'll look at my varsity basketball, and such, but the gpa was what i was worried about. Its been my dream to get into Upenn, so if you're tellin me theres a shot, im set

My rank? It's a highly, highly academic school, so more then like i'm only in the top 25%, though it is a small school. Basically its a heavy emphasis on academics, so you couldnt get in in the first place if you didn't have a 3.5 gpa, so im hopin thatll help a little.

hey just wanted to add one more thing...I've worked as a lifegard since freshmen year, anyone think that would help?

Everything helps - while they won't be amazed by a lifeguard, it is something else to add to your application. It shows responsibility, maturity, and what you did with some of your time.

What's your gpa out of?

My sister got into UPenn with a 3.67/4 GPA, 1250 SAT and she was recruited for Diving (along with lots of APs and extras). Just thought I would let you know... It's sounds like you'll be ok as long as your GPA isn't out of 12 or something.
