sorry to trick or offend you but i had to grab someones attention.(i never got a 400 no offense to anyone who has)
Early this fall I found one of my dream schools (among Howard U., Cal Poly San LO), USC. with my grades Avg. 3.2, and a 1070 SAT people laughed at the idea of me applying there. i talked to three different counselors, and they all said that I should apply based on my activities & Background…
*Student Govt. Member (Clubs director)
*Vice-President Black Student Union
*Peer Buddy Counselor (over 20 kids) – you might know it as Link Crew of America
*Cancer Relief Society
*Track & Field (hoping for Varsity this year)
*School District Member – Climate Committee (promotes diversity in school curriculum.)
*Junior Achievement (teaching in elementary school)
*I did make honor role before…once ,
*made it in the local paper for student of the month (probably doesn’t matter),
*Won a departmental award for fine arts
*American Red Cross, Salvation Army, and Holiday Project Volunteer (OVER 7 YEARS)
*Helped Start: Persian Student alliance, Latinos Unidos... yet not an officer (less significant activities)
Hey I’m proud you read this far, take a look at my background…
Black Student with a Learning Disability, always try 2 promote diversity, California resident, Verbal530 Math540 ACT22 (I know its still bad, yet no 400)…

I know a black student who had a low 3-something GPA and not above an 1100 on his SATs- he got in to USC with a 1/2 cost scholarship...or at least thats what he's saying.

really, thats interseting, what was he involved in. (sports, Debate, acting etc) also where was this person from i know that they consider the location that they live in when people apply and the schools reputation.
i live in an area that is similar to the stereotype of USC people.
(in other words my doctor who lives 45 minutes away from my school asked me where i go 2 H.S. i told him, and he imediately asked me if i drive a BMW, he was half serious, I laughed nervously-- i don't.)
the area is a suburban white upper middle class neighborhood (1.1% black...so lonely), the average home cost over $1,000,000 its RIDICULOUS.
The school has been nationally rec. as a good school (top 50 public--don't quote me on this)
