Hi.. I was wondering if anyone who knows about Brandeis University could tell me my chances of getting in.

ACT = 30 (equivalent to a 1340 on the SAT)
President of Spanish Honor Society
Class Treasurer

also.. does anyone know when we will get the regular decision letters? thanks a lot!

Brandeis has extended his regular application deadline (look at the website). Does this mean the number of applicants is way down this year?
From the research I've done, you sound like a sure bet for admission. Especially if the above is true!

Yeah.. I noticed that the application deadline for Brandeis was extended, too. Does anyone know if that means the number of applicants is down?

No, I wouldn't expect that. Honestly, a lot of colleges do that to simply get more application fees (seriously though). They don't want to admit students who weren't ready for the deadline- they obviously weren't serious enough to want to attend that badly.

They're already getting $40k/year per student, why does a few thousand dollars matter?

I think both of you should be fine. I applied under EA and got in with about a 3.5, 1290 SAT, and almost the same SAT II's as you. I know that my GPA isn't the best, but I heard that they accept close to 75% of EA canidates compared to about 40% on regular decision. So maybe that boosted my chances, since my academic stats wern't stellar. In addition this past report card I got close to a 4.0, so once again maybe that helped out. How did you do this past semester? I think that they value your 1st semester grades very highly and want to make sure that you aren't taking this year lightly. Good luck to both of you guys, and hopefully all of us in this thread will be entering into the Brandeis class of 2008!

My ex boyfriend applied to Brandeis w/ a 1200 SAT, decent grades (maybe in the top 25%) and ECs like taking a foreign language outside of school, and a couple in school ECs. When we were together, he used to get on my case about how I care too much about grades and how they don't matter because colleges care more about committment to ECs than grades, and therefore he would get into schools because of his "committment". Obviously, he was wrong because he was deferred and I applied to Brandeis as a safety, and am pretty confident I'll get in.
With all that said, I think you, SJG, have an excellent shot of getting in. Your gpa is excellent and so are your SATs for Brandeis. Also, your ECs show leadership and committment, and contrary to what my ex thinks, it's the WHOLE package that will get you into college, which you definitely possess. As long as you didn't screw up the essay, you're definitely in. Good luck come April 1st!
