I got into both UIUC and Purdue I should be in at Penn State and RPI to. All of these schools are known nationally for their engineering programs.Where do you think the quality of Eduaction,Students, Sports, Housing and Social will be the best. UIUC and Purdue are also known as big party schools is this trend seen in their engineering schools also or is their an academic atomosphere in the engineering department.

Dude your posts are all over!
Anyways congrats on getting admission to such fine schools.Great Job!
I wonder where you will be going to though.UIUC's engg programmes are pretty well known and you ll find lots of Indians to give you company!
Though costs could be a factor!Did you get scholarships anywhere?

the same post again- Did u really get in or are just trying to get our attention by saying that
anyways, if u did get in, congrats!- definitely go with UIUC- better school overall
And what were your stats again and when did u apply?
By Pgs1300 (Pgs1300) on Wednesday, January 21, 2004 - 07:46 pm: Edit
I really got in, I am not trying to get your attention. Thanks for helping me in between also. My stats were as follows:
760 M
570 V
1330
SAT II(Dont Matter)
750 IIC
760 CHEM
660 Writing
Loads of EC'S. Good essay.
I am asking again because I have heard mixed reviews about UIUC, people say the enviorment there is not academic and its full of drunks, to what magnitude is it true. I dont drink nor do I intend to.
By Pgs1300 (Pgs1300) on Wednesday, January 21, 2004 - 07:49 pm: Edit
I promise this one is the last.
Becks can you help me, I am studying in India and get aroung 70-75% in school the people at ROTC disqualified me they say my GPA is 1.7.Should I tell them to reconsider. I thought for students from India Uni's know that 75-80+% is really good.
By Becks777 (Becks777) on Wednesday, January 21, 2004 - 09:38 pm: Edit
Explain to them that u r in a different country which has a different grading system. Or best ask your principal to write an e mail or a letter saying that an A in your school is not 90+ as it is over here. And i think theres an agency here in the US which converts the garde for you- not sure though: i think u should go with the principal thing
And just wonderng- can u ist your 10th ( board exams) and 11th classes and what u got in them?. Also did u submit a resume? what was your essay about?
And the environemt at UIUC is not that different from purdue
By Anger (Anger) on Wednesday, January 21, 2004 - 10:36 pm: Edit
You could try converting your marks into US grades via WES.Ask ROTC if they are willing to accept that instead.75% converts to an A..thats the conversion they gave me!

Ok thanks for the replies
By Pgs1300 (Pgs1300) on Thursday, January 22, 2004 - 07:49 am: Edit
i sent them the ROTC an explanation from my side explaining that I am in a different country and the SAT score clearly shows that I can by no means get a 1.7. which is almost like failing.
By Barrons (Barrons) on Thursday, January 22, 2004 - 09:46 am: Edit
Purdue is # 9 in engineering but has a much large number of eng students. I would take UI as it is a better school overall.

By Nycneedhelp (Nycneedhelp) on Wednesday, January 28, 2004 - 12:04 pm: Edit
ohhh yeah the illinois experience thingy...
my parents are bitching about how it costs so much and its far away so i dunno (plus its on the same day as my national champs, and if i qualify, i dunno)
By Becks777 (Becks777) on Wednesday, January 28, 2004 - 05:01 pm: Edit
I might go- but not sure. if i find someone to go with me in school then i will definitely attend
yes- i saw my decison online. This year i dont think i m gonna get any scholarships ( stats not good enough) but next year i think i will get 3000-5000 from ABBOT labs- my dads company. Plus since i m a state resident the cost of attending isnt gonna be that high anyways
