Obvious answers: Keep your GPA up: since u still have a semester of your junior yr to go, a 4.0 in it would definitely help since your gpa seems a little low
And then since u still have time get your SAT up- work on it, especially if u want to get into your reaches
Aloso do something interesting in the summer

Purdue is a safety for you.

Add Wisconsin and Illinois as safety/match schools. Way better than Clemson and Rolla--yuk

WashU is pretty hard...probably harder than CMU or Columbia Engineering i think.

You should also look at Lehigh, Union, RPI, U of Rochester, U of Chicago and Cal Poly (not the same as Cal Tech), among others. As for another state school, look at U of Illinois Urbana-Champaign; this year's Nobel Prize winner teaches there --

College Parent- Yea I have heard about those schools, is U illinois urbana good for engineering?
Usnewsranker- wow I didn't know WashU was harder that CMU and Cornell...
thanks for info
any other ways to improve?

I don't think WashU's engineering program is more competitive than Carnegie Mellon or Cornell. UIUC has an excellent engineering program, but they're not too great at other stuff.

Becks- so you're saying that an SAT score in the 1500s would really up my chances? im not sure if thats feasable (at least not for Jan SAT). I was hoping that mid 1400 would be ok, but i guess not. What about my ECs, diversify, more hours? O and I am applying to summer engineering programs at Columbia, Cornell and UM college park.

in addition to summer activities, if you didn't see it in my info, I am going to India to build homes in needy areas through my grandfather's ministry. Are going to India and a summer course at a university interesting enough?

YES: for carnegie mellon and cornell, it would improve your chances: You are on a great track right now: a 1410 in your junio year is great. Since you have time, why not make all these school your matches: take the April ,May test and get your score in between 1450-1500: Good luck
And for sure get all As next semester
