I am interested in studying music. However, there is a problem, I am not an excelent musician. Although I am very adept with musical thoery, I cannot play the piano all that well, or any other instrument. Does this mean that I cannot be a music major? What would I do if I wanted to become a pianist? I don't know what to do...

I'm not sure if it's required at all schools but at NYU, you must audition for the music department. So, if you don't play an instrument, that wouldn't work. I would think that most music majors are accomplished musicians in at least one instrument, usually more than one.
