Hi guys, I know my stats don't mean much as a sophomore...but I want to know what I should do to be able to be a competititive candidate for Caltech, Rice or MIT (or some physics school).
I'm Indian-Asian and go to the number one public school in the state (pretty competitive).
SAT I(may 03)- Verbal- 680 Math- 760 (1440)
Class Rank- don't know, but I think its somewhere in top 6 or 7%
GPA- so far only a 5.245 weighted on 6, and 3.46 on 4 (yeah not so good)
PSAT-waiting for scores
-Orchestra-(play violin, but also electric guitar and tablas)
-UIL Math and Science(we call it Mu Alpha Theta)
-Red Cross Club
-Robotics Club- I was the theoretician! (did all the physics)
-GT Mentoring Program (highly competitive research program) - nominated by math and science teachers
-I tutor 9th graders in Integration of Physics and Chemistry
- SNHS candidate (spanish honor society)
-almost fluent in spanish, fluent in bengali
- in my local temple I help the priest make arangments and etc.
I intend to major in physics
-Robotics Most elegant Robot,
-Best Robotics Notebook,
-at State Robotics 2nd for most Robust Robot,
-Ninth grade regional science fair I got 3rd place in physics for my Particle Decelerator (generates electrical power),
-recieved an award for best quality project (got a TI-89),
-recieved an award for 4th best physics project in the whole city (American Institute of Physics),
-recieved an invitation by Rice University to have lunch with Nobel Prize winner Dr. Robert Curl ("BUCKY BALLS"),
-Siemens Wetinghouse Semi Finalist top 300 kids in the nation for a new product I made called an "antimicrowave" (currently applying for a patent),
-chosen to represent my school in JSHS (research science comp.),
-at national Orchestra competition my orchestra was named best orchestra in the United States,
-1 st place for a violin solo,
- during the summer (going to 10) I was chosen to work in the labs with High n Rydberg Atoms at Ric

bellaire/clements? or some austin school... but i didnt know they ranked high schools... but newayz...
you're a sophomore. what you got is pretty good...
retake your sats. if you wanna do physics...get that 800 in math. just check over your work and you'll get it. if you havent taken precal yet... id recommend you to go to rice summer school and take precal there then do calc bc your junior year.
rice shouldnt be too bad
