Does it really help that much to be Student Body President of a school of 3,300 students like mine? I mean, how much weight does it give you in admissions?

I think it helps you a lot since being the Student Body President of so many people certainly displays your leadership capabilities. However, if you haven't the grades to back up your leadership role, you still won't have much of a chance at an "Ivy" (if that's the type of school you wish to be admitted into.)

IT HELPS A LOT. The only kid who was accepted to Harvard last year from our school had only decent scores, grades, ec's, but was student body pres. and he beat out some of the most interesting, sharp (1600; 2400; 240) students in the class.
