I'm currently a freshman at NYU. For many reasons, it's just not working out for me. I've found myself more suited at Columbia (I volunteer there). I want to transfer, but my GPA is below the minimum 3.5. It's either a 3.244, or a 3.4. After speaking with one of the admissions officers, I know that they'll look at applicants with GPA's under 3.5, but I'm not sure if I have any shot.

Pretty much what happened is that I took VERY hard courses, well, mainly Honors Gen. Chem.

Our teacher actually taught us Physical Chem. (OUCH!).

I ended up with a B, and all of time was devoted towards that class, so it brought down my other classes as well.

Does anyone know if I were to have an outstanding application, would I have a snowballs chance in hell of getting in?

Thanks.

If anyone can provide anything, it would be really appreciated. I've been very nervous ever since I got my grades in. Please?

Thanks.

Couldn't you take easy courses in the second half of your freshman year and the first half of your sophomore year and then apply as a transfer student for junior year? Or does Columbia not accept junior transfers?

I can't take easy courses, because that will screw up my pre-med track at this point. And I want out of NYU now. I really hate it there.

Just out of curiousity,
Did you hear from CU?
I will be attending NYU this fall. If possible, I hope to attend CU if I end up pursuing Chemistry. If I do decide on business, I will remain at NYU.
