maybe consider a community college. i'm sure you could get full scholarships, etc.

By oie on Thursday, January 02, 2003 - 08:15 pm: Edit

you have a bad rank, a pretty good gpa, pretty decent SAT, an okay TOEFL

id say no to most ivies
possibly u chicago but a reach
possibly boston but a reach still

You guys are rather mean...I say that write a really good essay. You have a chance. Do not get side tracked. I think many people forget that she might be going to a outstanding highschool. Sometimes very competative. Anyways maybe try and take the SAT again and take the ACT. those colleges look at both or sometimes take either. You might do better on the ACT. Good luck..I was in the same boat as you are and I got in! Dont give up! Just remember they look at every single little thing on your application!

By Quarky on Thursday, January 02, 2003 - 11:27 pm: Edit

I can certainly tell that Anisha is not going to a "competative highschool." Well, she was in the same boat, but at least she got in...

...Yukon Community College

Yeah, they look at every single little thing on your application, even the word "retard."

just kidding :) good times

By azn on Friday, January 03, 2003 - 12:38 pm: Edit

so what were your stats?

By Q on Friday, January 03, 2003 - 01:10 pm: Edit

Your GPA, rank and SAT's are too low for the ivies, Amherst, Duke and U of Chicago. If you write excellent essays and have great recs, then Chicago could be a possibility since they focus on you as a person more than the numbers. You have a good chance at Boston.

Screw you, Anisha! There is nothing wrong with public schools!! Many of us do not have rich, physician parents, and don't have opportunities to attend private schools. By the way most ivies only have an enrollment of thirty percent or so private secondary school graduates.

By cheddar on Saturday, January 04, 2003 - 01:06 am: Edit

that's actually a lot. and many of these private schools are just pure crap. sickening indeed, monkey.

By smile, everything will be okay on Saturday, January 04, 2003 - 12:52 pm: Edit

Good chance at BU. The rest are kinda reaches, but don't give up. Anything is attainable.

By asdfasd on Saturday, January 04, 2003 - 05:58 pm: Edit

BU will be easy..
if you live in CA..and apply to a non-impacted major, you might have shot at UCLA and UCB

By UCLA on Friday, February 07, 2003 - 09:44 pm: Edit

I was just searching on the internet and saw this board. I do not know if this post is too late, but I am a 3rd year psychology/pre med at UCLA; I have to tell you that unless your GPA is around a 4.2, do not count on getting in here (even if you apply under a non impacted major). Be sure to apply to some back up schools! All of the schools that you are applying to are very competitive, and you do not want to sell yourself short by going to a community college. Remember, you can always transfer after your sophomore year. I wish I could offer you more advice but I am sure you have heard everything. In any case, wherever you go, just make sure to enjoy it.

yeah my GPA is at a 4.9 and I didn't get into that s-hitty skool
