i'm applying to the RPI/Albany med program (six years right?) just wanted to know what it takes. It would be really helpful, if you would just post some scores so that I can know what type of people get into these competitive programs.

By mona on Monday, January 06, 2003 - 03:10 am: Edit
well i did apply to PLME and HPME so i'll let you know if i get in. i got the app for NW.
By Tian Yosaki on Monday, January 06, 2003 - 07:01 pm: Edit
the hell? i got a 1500 and didn't get an app for HPME cause i didn't put down my rank (which sucks and my school doesn't rank)! If only my school wasn't so friggin' hard.
By damnyo on Monday, January 06, 2003 - 07:03 pm: Edit
hey anuraq and mehta, post your stats. Mehta already did, but anuraq you haven't. It would be really helpful if you post your SAT, rank, SAT II's, and your most important ec's. RPI program/Brown Program are really tough. So, since you're already in, we're no longer competition. Help us out.

Hey guys, does extensive research help for getting into a B.S./M.D. program? Oh, and the HPME application procedure sucks. I put in a request card for an application and they freekin' rejected me. How can u judge "emotional maturity" and "passion for medicine" solely on the basis of test scores?
By mona on Tuesday, January 07, 2003 - 01:36 am: Edit
what were ur scores and rank, anonymous?

By raaj on Tuesday, January 07, 2003 - 10:22 pm: Edit
hey, i'm indian too. I'm applying to RPI-Alb and Brown PLME. I have a 1500, 760 SAT 2 average, really good extra-curriculars, and awards in math/science. But, my gpa is pretty low and my rank (unreported to colleges) is kinda low (not top ten percent). Do I still have a chance at these programs? Mehta, what is your rank? And, Vaibhav, post your stats please for comparison sake.
By Vaibhav on Thursday, January 09, 2003 - 07:21 am: Edit

SAT II Chemistry 640
SAT II Writing 700
SAT II MAth IIC 730
I did some research at the City of Hope Medical Center and have been doing research at a toxicologist company since June 2001.

what does HPME look at to determine whether you deserve an app? i have great scores, good ECs, good GPA, but no reported class rank, is that really enuf to not get an app?
