I'm applying there too. I hope it hasn't become that competitive.

I applied to Miami too, here are my stats:
URM
3.8 gpa
ranked 21/150
1050 SAT
Lots of ECs, good recs, and my English teacher (who has been teaching for 20 years) said my essay was one of the best he'd ever read. I think I'll get in, but who knows with my SAT score.

Minibrit-- Why is it easier to get into from Florida? It's a private university.

UM IS 51% in-staters...I don't know if they're more easily accepted, or just if more in-staters want to attend.

University of Miami has become more selective.
Here are the most recent facts I could find:
In 2002, 15,909 applied, 6,977 were accepted. ED acceptance rate: 37%, Regular decision acceptance rate: 47%. Of those accepted, 55% ranked in the top 10% of their class, SAT range (25-75 percentile) was 1120-1320. Average high school GPA was 4.0.
Therefore, anyone with SATs near or below 1100 and a GPA below 3.5 or so should probably consider U of Miami a reach school unless there are other favorable factors. But it is a realistic reach and worth an application if you love the school.Just have a back up plan.

It just seems like it. I live in Miami and a lot of people from my school got in.
"In 2002, 15,909 applied, 6,977 were accepted. ED acceptance rate: 37%, Regular decision acceptance rate: 47%. Of those accepted, 55% ranked in the top 10% of their class, SAT range (25-75 percentile) was 1120-1320. Average high school GPA was 4.0. "
Sounds very UNselective to me. and the average High school GPA is weighted.
