I go to a very competive Catholiic private school in NJ.The biggest in our state.. Here are my stats...
Does going to a private school have a better chance into going into the ivies? Here are my scores....

GPA-98.5 Class rank:4/325(taking all ap's)
I am active in 10 clubs, the president of 2.(all 4 years in highschool) I am the editor of the yearbook and newspaper clubs.(2years) I am part of the national honor society and i am the president.I volunteered about 700 hours in my highschool career in different places such as the library, school, nursing home. In the summer I had a job. I took courses also in the local community college during the summer.

What school in NJ do you go to.
I recommend applying to a few ivies even if you went to Harlem High school.
Give it a try...(Cornell is the least selective one)
