Hi, I'm an Asian kid applying to colleges whose family income is <20000. Should I inform colleges about this and how? Would this have any bearings on my admission?

well when u apply for finaid you`ll have to fill in income info + expenditures etc.
u must inform colleges about that!i guess u are applying for finaid??

yeah, but many colleges say that the reviews of financial package and application are separate. So would the adcoms really know it?

they`ll come to know at some point..it surely won`t be in ur favor if u are not a clear candidate i.e. adcoms are undecided...but if u have strong stats+ good essay, recs & college is need-blind...it won`t have any bearings..i guess!

The colleges I'm applying to are mostly need-blind. So I guess I'll be fine, thanks

haha. <20000 is NOT poor, spoiled brat. (thats excluding families with 5+ children)

Uhmmm, <20000 is poor. The poverty level set by the government for a family of four is 17000, so OP is pretty close to poverty.
