hey suchita
I'm atul alright though I go by the nickname schumy online(after my favourite f-1 driver).
My Sat experiences have been horrifying to say the least. first up I scored 1390 and instead of improving in octovber I went down to 1380 but with a net 1410. SAT 2 was eqaully abyssmal-670M 720 Chem. I'll be applying to Austin and GA tech. What abt you? You scored 740V so that means u should have scored 1500+
And what abt mr.1590 himself? Did u apply early decision to any place?
best of luck to every1
will some1 post a sample personal statement-if they're doing one so that I can get a good idea
PS how did u know it was me?

Life's not bad-could have been better:d. Doing SAT 1 on December 6th and SAT 2 on January 24th*I have to redo Maths and do Physics and Writing as well.
I heard abt sampath's 2400 quite some time back-he never ceases to amaze me. btw for those of u who dont know siddharth scored 1550 SAT 1 and 2400 in M,P,C and is also the headboy of his school and an amazing debater.
Any1 who scored 700+ in Verbal have any advice on how to tackle the passages(i got 8 wrong in October, need to correct that).DO most ppl read the questions and then the passage or is it the other way around?
I'm doing engineering next year(comp/electrical)..but need a good sat score to guarentee admission.
Moui Subjects:
Maths,Physics,Chem,Comp and English
ISC English is much tougher and looking at comprehensive physics/chem looks like you guys have it tougher in those 2 subjects and maths is pretty much the same level.
ps
suchita, did you have an interview published in khaleej times?(something abt Kalam or was that some1 else?)
By Suchitar (Suchitar) on Thursday, November 27, 2003 - 01:39 am: Edit
netime way2usa
err..pardon my ignorance...but what exactly IS this USEFI thing?
I live in Dubai, so i guess that's why i've never heard of it...
cheers
By Suchitar (Suchitar) on Thursday, November 27, 2003 - 01:45 am: Edit
yeah atul, that was me.....in khaleej
for CR on sat, i suggest you skim thru the passage, then read the q's. If i remember right, many questions had line number references, so if you have a general idea of what the passage is about, you will be able to relate to what the particular lines are talking about.
and while you're doing the questions, skip the ones w/o line references initially, and then come back to them after you're done with all the other questions. So now when you do the "un-numbered" ones, you have a better idea of the passage yeah?
If i can help in any other way, shoot!
cheers
By Desertrose (Desertrose) on Thursday, November 27, 2003 - 09:57 am: Edit
well.. comprehensive isnt the right book to judge how our course is, as it is more entrance examination oriented.
I've seen the ISC Chemistry book by R.D. Madan and its pretty much the same as wat we do.. infact some topics are explained much better..
how about computers? do u guys do C++ too ?
and ya.. adding onto siddharth's list of achievements, he is also a keen quizzer, writer, tabla player !!

Anyone who's taken the SAT's in Mumbai:
since the testing date for SAT / SAT II is only a week away, i'll like to find out directions to my center: BOMBAY TEACHERS TRAINING COLLEGE
MAHAKAVI BHUSHAN MARG (BEHIND REGAL CINEMA - NEAR APOLLO BUNDER) COLABA, MUMBAI.
Can anyone post the directions?
Also, Are there any special identification requirement's? I guess only carrying a valid passport should be enough? And what is the normal time to reach at the center? thanks.. and do post any other information you are aware about.. thanks..
By Smac86 (Smac86) on Friday, November 28, 2003 - 02:05 am: Edit
Reach at 8-8:15, I guess.
Only a passport is reqd.
No idea about directions. Someone else'll need to help you out.
Dont forget your calculator.
By Suchitar (Suchitar) on Friday, November 28, 2003 - 02:37 am: Edit
at the risk of sounding stupid, i just want to say, PLEASE TAKE YOUR ORIGINAL PASSPORT, don't take only a photocopy for fear of losing it or whatever.
My friend brought her copy and her driver had to go back alll the way home to get her original. So save yourselves the hassle and do get the originals
Good luck n cheers ¬=)

I just wanted to post here to wish all the Indians applying from India the best of luck. Just make sure you have a back up plan in case your first choice doesn't work (hopefully won't need it though). As for me, I luckily have American school transcripts because I moved here right before high school.
Have any of you applied early to schools? Just curious. Good luck once again
I know I will need it to get into Princeton.
By Nutmag345 (Nutmag345) on Friday, November 28, 2003 - 02:27 pm: Edit
ksharoff, so you applied ED to Princeton. Hope to see you there next year? May I ask for your stats? To check mine, just see the "1500 club" thread in the SAT section. I am one of the last ones there.
Reading the previous thread (Indian thread #2) brings up some unfortunate points about NRIs and their attitude towards India. It's a shame to see one NRI after another believe that India is some completely poverty stricken hole with no potential. I have been keeping touch with my friends in India and I do visit every year, so I know that conditions there are not nearly as bad as people make it out to be. NRIs shouls seriously try to be more constructive, and take pride in their motherland. Jai Hind.

hi Thegeniusgr8 !
ur stats r really gud.. but how did were u able to covert your mks to a GPA? did your school do it? or you urself?
I was really keen to know how can our mks be converted to a GPA.. coz i am studyin in a CBSE school in the Dubai, and as far as my school is concerned, they dont convert our marks to a GPA...
and as for ur colleges, austin shouldnt be much of a problem.. coz a friend of mine got through to Austin, but his SAT 1 score is slightly higher.. he got a 1350, but he didnt do his SAT 2s and his CBSE grades rn't so high as well..
and again.. any1 here tryin for Canada ?!?!

Desertrose,
I study in an Indian school in Kuwait.
Here there are lot of people who score above 80%(science). This year's gulf topper(CBSE) was from FAIPS(DPS),KUWAIT(I think ~96%!!!). Last year's gulf topper was too from Kuwait(ICSK,KUWAIT- 95.8%!!!). This year(2002-2003) from FAIPS(DPS) school, there were abt 10/abt 60(total) students who scored above 90%. This no. is expected to rise this year from the ICSK students. Getting in 70s has no meaning.
So, there is a stiff competition here.

yay Indians!
I was born and raised in the US (northern VA, near DC) so I'm an ABCD (don't make fun!) senior now and trying to make it to college. I thought Kal Ho Naa Ho was really good, even if i did cry like a baby and they had WAY too many guju jokes. REALLY, that was just uncalled for.
I applied early to UPenn, regular apps will go to Cornell, Yale, Princeton, Hopkins, Duke, Wash U in St. Louis, UVA and VTech (I'm pretty sure I'll get in UVA and VTech since I'm instate)
anyways, Penn decisions come out on the 12th, so I'm super anxious. I think I'll go post my stats now so everyone can laugh at me for even applying to an Ivy =(
By Cyclones86 (Cyclones86) on Wednesday, December 03, 2003 - 07:46 pm: Edit
namaste.
I was born in India, came to the US as a baby - so I've lived here for most of my natural-born life.
I'm applying to Rice ID (got that in the mail, am waiting for rejection in Feb), Emory, U Iowa (my state school), U Wisc-Mad, and U Minn-TC. I had about 20 colleges on my list at the beginning of senior year - but then I realized that undergrad education for me will be the same most anywhere b/c I want to go to med school.
AH I have a killer calc test soon, and I'm dying. And I want to see Kal Ho Na Ho (I bet I said that wrong)!!!
Jai Hind.

hi..
u got ym question wrong...
on an AVERAGE i asked.. not about the toppers..
in my school too.. the toppers do get late 80s to early 90s...
and i was referring to internal examinations [sorry i forgot to mention]
y i asked tat question is... n i am sure suchita wuld agree is tat.. there is a HUGE diff in our mks in our internal examinations and boards. the problem with this is, for ppl like me whose application depends solely on internal mks [i am applyin to canada btw].. it is a big problem..
i wanted to know how the internal mkin was in other places.. so tat atleast i wuld kno if the markin sucks, or my school sucks.. or i suck !!
take for eg our half yrly examination.. barring two or three girls... out of 93 science girls.. no1 crossed 60/70 in phy or chem..
most ppl got in 40s.. some 50s.. i wanted to kno if the papers were tough... or r we plain stupid...
By Tjchokri04 (Tjchokri04) on Thursday, December 04, 2003 - 05:46 pm: Edit
i guess i'll post my stats in here.. my early decision school is upenn. it's always good to hear what other desi's think =)
[i posted this in another thread too]
let's start with the good first:
SAT I: 1600
SAT II: math2c (800), writing (770), chem (770)
no class rank. 3.702 GPA (weighted) [ouch]. all classes at my school (it's a magnet/scitech school) are considered "honors" ap's are weighted .5. taken 6 ap's (2 soph yr, 4 junior year) taking 4 more this year [bc calc, eng lit, govt, and euro]. 5's on bio, psych, ab calc, and us history. 4's on chem and spanish lang. really rigorous courseload overall.. but i'm more of a B+ student than an A student. interview didn't go superwell though. ec's: i tutor, do lots of volunteer work, girls bball manager, prez of indian culture club, model un, things like big sibs, etc. national merit semifinalist. currently have a research internship at a govt biotech lab for molecular biology. counting on pretty good recs and good essays
also applying to: yale, princeton, cornell, wash u in st. louis, hopkins, duke, uva, virginia tech (last two being my safeties)
biggest problem is that i live in northern virginia and i go to an incredibly well known magnet school (most national merit semifinalists for the past 9 years or something), so the competition is extremely fierce. so a 3.7 is really low. i did send my first quarter grades in to penn and that was like a 4.14 for that quarter. first semester grades (for rd schools) should be around a 4.14-4.2. so i guess overall my gpa would be around a 3.8.
my question is, do you think i might get into penn early? am i reaching too high with my regular decision schools? thanks

okay ya'll
thnx for being so great so far
I need help..
this is my situation....
for those of you who have followed my posts, you'd know that i've applied to read law in the UK...
The thing is, King's college, have now gotten back to me saying that I'm in if I have grade "5" in three AP Exams.
In Dubai, where I live, there are no testing centres for the AP's (which are held in May, I believe)
My next best option would be to do them in India...
So if any of you know of test centres (for AP's ofcourse
) in Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai or Bangalore could you post??
Thanks a million
cheers

haha a 1600 doesn't guarantee anything.. there's probably at least 10 other people at my school who have 1600's. i'm sure i'll get in somewhere, it's just a matter of WHERE i'll get in.

I don't ordinarily post in these threads but I thought I'd share this here because it seems appropriate:
My D's Princeton Review tutor is Indian, a graduate of Northwestern. Terrific young woman, does PR tutoring and the like because she's an actress...and, if you live in L.A., you know that actors do other things during the many long stretches between parts. (I believe she does conventional stage work.)
As a tutor, she has been terrific: my D's SAT scores went from a 1200-equivalent on her Sophomore PSAT to a 226 (69m,77v,80w) on the junior PSAT, 1400 on the junior SAT, 1480 on the October senior SAT and 1600 on the most recent practice test...had to miss today's test because of flu, will re-schedule for January.
Besides being a great tutor, overhearing them talk and giggle you'd think they'd be great friends, hanging out together if it weren't for the about 10-year age difference.
I asked the tutor about her background and she said that her father was a graduate of IIT, which I'd never heard of until I came to this board. In fact, he was the gold medal winner for his class. He has told her that the competition has gotten so tough that he's not even sure he could get *in* to IIT today. Anyway, that's the main point of this post and I thought it might be food for thought.
The tutor and I had an interesting discussion on nature vs. nurture and just how much stress was good for a student. That was food for thought, too.

Hey I'm an ABCD and I'm seriously worried about college. Is it true that it's easier for an Indian from India to get in than it for an Indian-American? I heard it was. Bollywood movies help me take my mind off of stuff. Haven't seen Kal Ho Na Ho and to be honest I really don't want to. I hate Preity Zinta. Actually the only Bollywood movies I like are old ones b/c new Bollywood movies are sexist and retarded. Why are so many Bollywood movies obsessed with NRI's? Jeez. And they are so totally inaccurate. "Pardes" was the dumbest piece of crap I'd ever seen. NRI's don't even live like that.

Internet protocol."

Don't worry, many Americans don't know much more about Ireland:
You're not Irish,
You can't be Irish,
You don't know "Danny Boy,"

You've got a helluva nerve
to say you come from Ireland,

lol not really. I am gona ahve to diagree with Becks777 and Puppy. HEllah people love INDIANS especially in california if youa re INDIAN you have hellahs treet respect. and yes of coruse they ask about arranged marriage and stuff but my parents are cool enough to letme pick my wife ;) indian ofcourse. Yes, India proudfully boasts some of the smartest students and right now they are making a lot ofe xecutive decisions here in the US.
HOPE ALL OF YOU GET YOUR PERSPECTIVES RIGHT!
PS> Congrtulations Smac86
its really hard for an International student to get into stanford but YOU DID IT! YAY! you beat the ods. You owned the system. Hope you are happy where you are and California is AMAZING!
By Becks777 (Becks777) on Saturday, December 13, 2003 - 04:10 pm: Edit
lol....its no secret here that indians are probabaly the smartest of all.......this leads to some more steriotyping....my firend once told me --" of, you havent done your project yet?....you r indian man...u dont leave things till the end!"
And financelad, the bay area is a whole different story..that place is infested with indians and indians and other asians own the silicon valley and have the best paid jobs there. But things are different for the rest of america....even for places like the chicago area wich has a decent indian population.
I blame the media for the negative image of india. TVs dont show the thriving computer related businesses in bangalore and mumbai (although they did show it once on CNBC), but they will show the poverty in india, old indian culture and marriage/family related issues in india.
By Nutmag345 (Nutmag345) on Saturday, December 13, 2003 - 08:26 pm: Edit
Puppy, your ignorance almost made me launch into a tirade on Ireland's numerous problems, but I that would be unfair. I pity your narrow-minded outlook and hope that you don't represent a typical native of Ireland.
I live on the east cost and my friends are really supportive of Indian culture (aside from some good natured banter). The only way the common perception of India will improve is if ALL people of Indian descent take pride in their culture. Never back down if ANYONE insults your country.
By Puppy (Puppy) on Saturday, December 13, 2003 - 08:53 pm: Edit
what do you want me to say? Everyone in America thinks Irish People drink a lot, and I get drunk every weekend, in fact in a couple hours ill be drunk. The Irish dont drink more than others, they just do it publically. The stereotype is sort of true i suppose. Yeah there are a hell of a lot of problems between us and the Scotch-Irish Protestants but its not as bad as americans think. There hasnt been a car bomb in a good while.
Maybe the reason i think this way is because i constantly see those christian childrens fund ads and i know no indians, nor can i think of an indian entertainer, except Ravi Shankar and the guy on the simpsons but they are stereotypes i guess.
I says to this indian kid before, "do you guys still have sati? (not SAT I) and he gave an affected laugh, but i think he was disgusted.
By Smac86 (Smac86) on Sunday, December 14, 2003 - 12:08 am: Edit
Well....
The problem lies in the way India is projected on TV-- I mean, if you ever watch a story based in India on CNN, it'll always be shot in a dirty village with cows roaming the streets etc. So, I don't really blame people who know nothing more than TV.
Quote:3.I heard there r cows everywhere on your highways
4.So have your mom and dad already picked a girl for you??

Puppy - three letters : IIT (3 words actually)
We got a lotta smart ppl here, just that they don't get as many opportunities in India to show off their smartness. So we shine in America and wherever else we get the chance to do so.
Pet reptiles? Malodorous? That's a bit too much, even for a typical ignoramus

An old email I had...
How to answer the usual questions asked of Indians :
To help the new incoming students from India, here are the proper answers to awkward questions asked everyday:
Q. What does that red dot on women's forehead mean?
A. Well, in ancient times, Indian men used to practice archery skills by target practicing by aiming at their wife's red dot.
In fact, that is one of the reasons why they had many wives.
You see, once they mastered the art of archery and hit the
target....
Q. You're from India? I have read so much about the country. All
the wonderful places, the forests, the snake charmers, the
elephants. Do you still use elephants for transportation?
A. Absolutely. In fact we used to have our own elephant in our house. But later, we started participating in elephant-ride sharing schemes with our neighbors, to save the air. You see elephants have an "emissions" problem.....
Q. Does India have cars?
A. No. We ride elephants to work. The government is trying to encourage ride-sharing schemes.
Q. Does India have TV?
A. No. We only have cable.
Q. Are all Indians vegetarian?
A. Yes. Even tigers are vegetarian in
India.
Q. How come you speak English so well?
A. You see when the British were ruling India, they employed Indians as servants. It took too long for the Indians to learn English. So the British isolated an "English-language" gene and infused their servants' babies with it and since then all babies born are born speaking English.
Q. Are you a Hindi?
A. Yes. I am spoken everyday in Northern
India.
Q. Do you speak Hindu?
A. Yes, I also speak Jewish, Islam and Christianity.
Q. Is it true that everyone there is very corrupt?
A. Yes, in fact, I had to bribe my parents so that they would let me go to school.
Q. India is very hot, isn't it?
A. It is so hot there that all the water boils spontaneously. That is why tea is such a popular drink in India.
Q. Are there any business companies in India?
A. No. All Indians live on the Gandhian prinicples of self-sufficiency. We all make our own clothes and grow our own food. That is why you see all these thin skinny Indians -- it is is a lot of hard work.
Q. Indians cannot eat beef, huh?
A. Cows provide milk which is a very essential part of Indian diet. So eating cows is forbidden. However, in order to decrease the population of the country, the government is trying to encourage everyone to eat human meat, and believe me it is working out pretty good.
Q. India is such a religious place. Do you meditate regularly?
A. Yes, sometimes I meditate for weeks without food and drink. But it is difficult to keep my job, because I have to miss work when I meditate like that. But the bosses there do the same thing. That is why things are so inefficient there.
Q. I saw on TV that people there walk on burning coals. Why do they do that?
A. We don't have shoes. So we burn the bottom of our feet to make it hard so that we can walk.
Q. Why do you sometimes wear Indian clothes to work?
A. I prefer it to coming naked.

ummm.. i am surprised tat this attitude is there even now... because my experiences in the west have give a diff picture..
i live in the gulf.. where everybody knows wat india is... but when i was in toronto, canada for a vacation, i was really surprised to see tat many ppl did kno about india too..
like on the occasion of a religious hindu festival, my mom was in a saree, and we were travellin by the subway... a canadian lady next to us, was really fascinated by my mom's dress.. came n spoke to her.. n our shock, she knew a lot...
she also said tat working with indians helps the canadians to kno about our culture...
so it was really a pleasant shock...
and as for the others being ignorant about us indians, c'mon guys.. lets be true to ourselves.. how many of us are the real 'proud to be indian' type ?! havent we critisized our country for its bad roads, its hot climate, lack of the facilities... n we form an integral part of the media...
so if we want the world to see the more +ve side of our country, let us change ourselves, lets be proud of our culture, of its heritage, and of its variety which breeds in the unity...

Wait a minute...okay so maybe the image of India is kind of misrepresented. But many things ARE true. I know for a fact that cows DO roam the streets of New Delhi, and I know Indians (and many non-Indians as well) DO meditate. And how can you guys say that arranged marriages are a myth?!?!? 98% of Indians have arranged marriages. That doesn't even include all the NRI's who have arranged marriages.

congrats on the stanford EA SMAC86. I've got a friend with double your ECs (and all good ones) who didn't get in Stanford EA. Even I didn't get in but that's a different story. Guess it's a whole combination of things that gets people in at Stanford. So it's not just your EC's and scores but also your 'brother legacy' that got you in. Just curious, did you apply for financial aid as well?
congrats again

By Smac86 (Smac86) on Saturday, December 20, 2003 - 01:57 am: Edit
Hey College_Kid...
Frankly speaking, I actually believe I had amazing ECs. I'm sorry you don't believe that. But, its true.
Essays and Recs were awesome.
And I don't think there's anything known as 'brother legacy'. I've researched on this subject and have learnt that in certain cases, they look twice at the application.
Believe me, it was my Extra-curric stuff that got me in.
PS: Just curious... How exactly do you think my ECs were bad? I'm getting pissed now....
By College_Kid (College_Kid) on Saturday, December 20, 2003 - 08:24 am: Edit
If there is no such thing, why do they have a field for it in the application at all? And I'm curious why you would apply EA to the same place as your 'brother legacy' if your research hadn't proved that such a thing exists. Of course they consider it, and the 'second look' is more than what it sounds. I never said your EC's are bad, but just that they don't fall into the *amazing* category, and I've seen people with way better stats get rejected in the Stanford EA. I don't want people to read this board and assume that such lucky shots are common. My friend did, and now look at him.
I don't think you would ever understand it, smac86. That's human nature (" I actually believe I had amazing ECs"). But if you look at it objectively, you'll see that this is a perfect case of 'brother legacy' working.
By Smac86 (Smac86) on Sunday, December 21, 2003 - 11:45 pm: Edit
Because its one of the best colleges out there. Have you seen Stanford?
I guess not. Anyways, I don't want to continue this inane discussion any further. I really don't give a damn what you believe. You're really no point of concern for me.
By Smac86 (Smac86) on Monday, December 22, 2003 - 12:03 am: Edit
You seem very sore-- you seem like the typical rejected sort.
And may I see these 'awesome' stats of your friend?
I'm going to celebrate now.
By Iamthekid (Iamthekid) on Monday, December 22, 2003 - 01:47 am: Edit
college kid has got a point.
After all with your bro in u know what exactly what the adcoms want
By Smac86 (Smac86) on Monday, December 22, 2003 - 07:24 am: Edit
Yup. I applied for financial aid.
And obviously my brother helped me with my application. But it not like he's above the system just because he's there. His guess is as good as yours or mine.
And so bloody what if your so called brother legacy helped. Do you want me to go down on my knees and say "Oh Lord, I thank Thou for blessing me with a brother at Stanford..."????? Thats just frikkin' insane. If you want me to feel guilty about it, its not working. Try a bit harder and you may just infuriate me enough to kill you.
I'm still wondering: 1500 SAT + newspaper/prime-time-news plaudits for creating a successful site + Intel Science Fair national Awardee + top 1% of class + Employment by UK company + Reco by UK Boss + good-to-amazing essays + really good recos + Various leadership positions -- Is BAD in your eyes?
You must be frikkin' insane. I'm not dumb when I'd just say "I have good ECs".
And please-- you can go with your dumbass friend and weep away. I don't care. Stats are not everything-- not at the top places at least. He can go to some sorry college if he wants his stats to do the talking. You need to have a personality, which needs to be conveyed in your application.
If I were you, I'd be lecturing my friend about the other parts of the application, rather than wasting time on this board trying to mess with other people.
Peace, love and empathy. I guess you'll never know that. That's human nature-- right?
By College_Kid (College_Kid) on Monday, December 22, 2003 - 09:35 am: Edit
you show the guilt yourself by mentioning it so often. By your reaction, you look like you seriously lack personality. Favourite quote: "Stats are not everything-- not at the top places at least." I agree with you on this, legacies do work, don't they? You're still wondering about why they took you? Im not. That was my point, and still is, brother. I'm showing peace love and empathy on all those doofs who read this board and think that jokers can get into stanford because they _think_ they have personality.
By Smac86 (Smac86) on Tuesday, December 23, 2003 - 12:37 am: Edit
I'm not wondering how I got in.
You are. Wonder on.
By Smac86 (Smac86) on Tuesday, December 23, 2003 - 12:38 am: Edit
I guess your friend is fictitious....
Or maybe he's your lover?
By College_Kid (College_Kid) on Tuesday, December 23, 2003 - 04:30 am: Edit
ooh... hate comments... lewd references... this is getting nasty. I should've known it all along - you're into the alternative lifestyle thing... I've stopped wondering why you got in. Probably you mentioned your liking for boys in the app? Nice 'gimmick'
By Smac86 (Smac86) on Tuesday, December 23, 2003 - 11:58 pm: Edit
LMFAO!
Nice try at being funny, college_kid.
Anyways, as you say, this is getting nasty.
Peace?
I'm not coming back to this post again. Hence, I suggest peace.
But you still haven't told me how your 'friend's' stats are better than mine. Oh well. Screw that.
By College_Kid (College_Kid) on Wednesday, December 24, 2003 - 04:04 am: Edit
peace here as well amigo.. I guess we got on the wrong foot on this one.. best of luck for stanford
By Smac86 (Smac86) on Wednesday, December 24, 2003 - 07:10 am: Edit
Yeah.
Thanks college_kid.
Btw, where all are you applying/have applied?
Good luck with your applications.
You know anyone else who's headed for Stanford next September?
PEACE.

Hi Suchita, how's it going?
Congrats on getting into Bristol and best of luck for the others. Oxford is sure to lap you up.
Just out of curiosity, why law? My little sister wants to do law. However, that's thanks to "Legally Blonde". Similar reason, eh?
ps - Your coupon for 1000 points has been mailed. It's valid till 31st February 2004.
By Suchitar (Suchitar) on Thursday, December 25, 2003 - 09:06 am: Edit
Hey Venkat
Thank you
But you're wrong about Oxford....they rejected me yesterday:P
But..im okay with it..i sort of expected it anyway....~=) Having been considered by them..was good enough for me!
What are you planning to do? With your stats, you'd get in anywhere, i imagine?
Law..because:
1/ The money (yeah, i know)
2/ I did a lot of research and ... decided it's for me (I'm not going to do court jobs or anything...im more for corporate law)
3/ Me n science...just don't GO u know...(i know, i figured out too late)
4/ John Grisham:P
How's life in Kuwait? Much different from here?
Keep in touch
Cheers

Like I already told you, hoping to major in engineering (So far, undecided engineering). I'm contemplating thinking about thinking of doing a double major (The other in management perhaps).
If that doesn't work out, it's off to University of Judaism to become a rabbi. heh...
Why engineering? Because I'm an odd fella who likes Math and Physics (most of the time).
Oh, and if I'm not mistaken, Lawyers burn in hell. See you there...

Hello Venkat !
Welcome to college confidential !! whats with the points anyway ?!?!
By Venkat (Venkat) on Friday, December 26, 2003 - 01:54 am: Edit
H'lo.
Thank you for the welcome.
About the points - Pilfered the "You get a 1000 points each" line from Drew Carey in "Whose line is it anyway". As of now, I doubt there is a copyright on that line. However, if there is one, I'm sure you people won't snitch on me to the Feds... heh.
By Desertrose (Desertrose) on Friday, December 26, 2003 - 12:04 pm: Edit
are u sure about that ?!!?
By Venkat (Venkat) on Friday, December 26, 2003 - 03:47 pm: Edit
Hmm... I suppose some of you get your kicks by stabbing devilishly handsome fellas in their backs.
If that's the case, I'm quite safe being, as one might say, on the wrong end of the "handsome" spectrum... heh.
What am I trying to say? Well, in a nutshell - "bump"
By Suchitar (Suchitar) on Saturday, December 27, 2003 - 04:30 am: Edit
aah... bumping's not gonna help..no matter how "devilishly handsome" u maybe..:P
this post's getting longgg...what say we start a new one??
See ya'll on Indian Post #4!
Cheers
