Well berkeley is my #1 choice but ive gotten to the point where i understand that theres gonna be crazy competition and i will most likely not get in. What other schools would you guys recommend?
UW GPA: 3.3.
SAT: 1310.
SAT II: Havent taken yet but they should all be in the 700-750 range.
Prep school with my only B's the last year being theology classes which count for UC's
URM.
Average EC's.
Could get good recs if i need them.
Schools im applying to for sure:
Berkeley (just for fun... dont want to regret not applying)
UCSD
UCSC
Tulane
Comments, suggestions... ANYTHING useful is appreciated!
thanks,
culov

What do you want to study? One thought: look at Trinity University in San Antonio, good school looking to boost minority enrollment and out of state student body.

neuroscience or astrophysics. Most likely neuroscience with a minor in physics if possible.

It's always best to apply to those one or two schools you think is just out of your reach, because you never know...
I graduated from Berkeley in 2002 with a major in "neuroscience." I put that in quotes, because there is no true neuroscience major at Berkeley. It's actually an emphasis of the Molecular and Cell Biology major. Everyone in MCB basically takes the same core classes, but then take more specific ones their senior year. I ended up taking only 5 classes where neuroscience was the topic. I'm sure most colleges have something similar to this, since neuroscience is a relatively new field. I'm actually applying to UCSD for grad school in neuroscience. They have an excellent program.
