Thanks!

how is a 1600 a low test score? jesus, you guys are getting more and more cricial of yourselves everyday.

And I actually believe Sri Lankin is classified as a URM somewhere, like it will be able to help you. But I've only vaguely heard it, so I would do some research on your own.

It would definitely be worth your time to apply, you blow my 1450 out of the water....

btw, October is the last test date for EA, so your november tests won't count toward admissions.

please evaluate my chances at "Hopefully my last chances post"...thanks and best of luck to you

Wow.

I think you have a pretty good chance at getting in! I wish you all the best :)

By Alextmw (Alextmw) on Monday, October 27, 2003 - 09:21 pm: Edit

When well-qualified people say stuff like 'a guy can dream?' or 'do i stand a chance' or 'should i even apply', you need to back some of it up. WHY in the world are you a long shot, I'd consider you a shoe-in, pretty much.

By Alextmw (Alextmw) on Monday, October 27, 2003 - 09:24 pm: Edit

Oh wait, I get it Andrey. I also thought he was a 1600, he's just listing them out of 800 each and then the total. Still a good shot, dude, chill out..

By Andrey1225 (Andrey1225) on Monday, October 27, 2003 - 09:38 pm: Edit

oooh.....wow, I hope I wasn't the only one to not get that at first.

hmm.....with a 1420 things are looking a little bit different. Also with the fact that there are way too many ECs to list on the application your chances are beginning to look a little slimmer.

Could you give us a revised list of what ECs you're actually going to send to the school?

By Alextmw (Alextmw) on Monday, October 27, 2003 - 09:48 pm: Edit

I wouldn't be so harsh... that long list can pretty much fit into the Stanford form, because here he skipped lines to describe his positions, etc. And they're solid ECs. I'd say sign up for the December SAT in case you get deferred, that's what I'm doing.

By Andrey1225 (Andrey1225) on Monday, October 27, 2003 - 10:49 pm: Edit

I'm not being harsh, sorry if I came off that way.

He definitely has a shot at making into Stanford--and yes the ECs are very solid. But on the online application there's only so much space to state the EC and describe your position. I'm having trouble only fitting the award name and EC position in about 30-50 characters. So I'm just saying that from personal experience he might have trouble fitting everything in (or already has since the apps due in a few days).

Thanks alot for the quick response.

Yeah, sorry about the SAT confussion, its just seems 1420 is definatley on the lower tier, and then I look at this website and you guys have like 1550s applying to only lower schools. Im signed up for the December SAT1, Ill see what I can do.

All my EC fit on the Stanford Application, I just had to bunch all my track/cross country into one, put the honor societies in the academic achievment section, and cut like one minor club. It looks alot longer than it is, since I was lazy to indent.

I'll look into the URM classification. Thanks for all the insight.

Yeah I clumped a lot of junk together in my app. Good job. It makes for more check marks when putting the years involved. :D

By I10rooteu (I10rooteu) on Monday, October 27, 2003 - 11:30 pm: Edit

make EC lists stand out. e.g.
"Cross Country, 2000 - 2003
Competed in top level races on the varsity team"
top level? what do you mean? did you win some medals? perhaps state recognition?

By Spicymeatball (Spicymeatball) on Monday, October 27, 2003 - 11:43 pm: Edit

Well what if I sucked at cross country, hated it, and didn't win any medals? I mean I wasn't horrible, but I wasn't recognizable on any decent level. (yeah I hated running)
Actually on the app, I think I put "earned numerous varsity letters" and thats all. I think thats the best I'm gonna pull out of the mess evn though it consumed ridiculous amounts of hours for 3 years. I was a little dissapointed to see no 9th grade EC on apps too.
