I'm a junior right now, But I want to know about my chances to apply to all those big-brand schools. My parents don't really care where I go, as long it doesn't strain them financially (ikes!).
Well, I REALLY need to know where I stand, so here's my stat:
APs taken:
Bio-5
US his-5

APs taking right now:
Language
Chemistry
Calculus AB(we only have this at my school, no BC, grrr)
Drawing(I want to be an architect, so I guess it would be a plus)
Planning to take 3 more APS next yr for my senior Year. I'm also taking/have taken a handful of classes at community college: algebra2, psychology, physics 101/102, calculus 2/3.

I have a 4.0 out of 4.0 unweighted GPA.
I place first in my grade, which is about 200 ppl.
SAT I: haven't taken, but I got a 1500 on the Kaplan CD full-length practice test.
SAT II: bio-720, US-770, Chinese-800(I'm fluent)

ECs:
CSF(california scholarship federation)-3yrs already
Interact-historian (participated in decoration of rose parade)
National Science Bowl-2yrs(going for 3yrs total, and position of vice pres./co-captain)
Math Club- 2yrs (going for 3yrs total, and some kind of position, hopefully pres./vp)
School literary magazine(going for editor)
I'm going for Academic Decatholon next yr almost for sure. I've spoken with the coach.

I know my ECs are somewhat too thin, but I'm still a junior. BTW, most of these things eat up a lot of time... I have basically no free night every week. (talk about no life... sigh)I guess I can still bring it up. I just wish to know if my chances are good.
THANX ALOT!
P.S. If you have some good ECs in mind, please tell me!!! I will be GREAT help. Thanx Again!

Ur doing good so far. Your ECs are fine as long as you stand by them and are committed. Colleges much prefer fewer ECs which you have enjoyed and have seriously committed yourself, rather than lots of ECs where you don't stand out.

Also, try and get some serious volunteer work in there, because I see that is missing. Start somethiong regularly, put in 2-3 hours a week in at least one place, or maybe two until you go to college. You can find a lot of good volunteer work, without having to leave your house!

Eg. I translate from Greek to English and vice versa for an animal rights organisation/website, as the owners are all from UK. Perhaps you can use your Chinese somewhere??

Also, I call in to a phone every week and read articles, so blind people can call in and listen to them. I enjoy both ECs and don't really have to leave my house to do them, which is good cuz I am sure you have a lot of work like me!

But you look good so far, entrance to Ivy League schools can be arbitrary a lot, so make sure you apply to other top universities such as Stanford, Georgetown, Berkeley, NYC, Amherst, Williams etc.

Oh, I forgot to mention that the Interact club and CSF are volunteer/humanitarian organizations. We do a lot of volunteering work. Maybe not 2-3 hrs per week, but half that much. Just last saturday I had to get up 5 in the morning to set up a parking lot sale... went straight to bed afterwards. The translation idea seems great, I'll look for something like it.
