I am the first generation in my family to go to any college at all, and I am have applied to Yale. I was just wondering how much the fact that I am a first generation will matter in my admission decision. Will that really help my chances, or is that just a rumor?

it will somewhat, not a lot; it's more of an "all other things equal" decision that they make
