Discus: What Are My Chances?: December 2002 Archive: Am I even going to college?

I messed up my life so what are my chances of making it into a college

Extracurriculars - Math Team, Chess Team, Interscholastic Competition in English, yes, that's it

SAT I - 1450 (770 Verbal, 680 Math)
PSAT - 206 (71 Math, 68 Writing, 67 Verbal)
SAT II - just took them, so I don't know what I got

AP - taking all that my school offers this year - Bio, Calc AB, English, and US History

Class rank of 8 out of 85 with a 92.4 average (don't know exactly how the whole 4.0 scale works)

No community service
No church
No helping little kids or elderly people
No wasting 60 hours of my time just to get into college
Nothing

Do I stand a chance at getting into a college? If so, what kind of schools should I be applying to? I'm interested in a lot of things, but it'll probably have to be Computer Science, Statistics, Finance, or Economics because it's tough to take a risk and go into something that I MIGHT be good at.

Thanks for any help.

u stand a good chance of getting into a great school, much less any college at all... if u really think ur extra-curriculars are a problem, u can look to some public state schools... lotta them don't get too much past the numbers, and a 1450/92 is a sure thing... a whole bunch of private schools would take u too, just on the fact that ur smart, and that u work (courseload).

No kidding. Wot are you thinking? Your composite SAT places you solidly in the top 2% of the country.

Ok, you're probably not going to a HYPSM, but most any other school would love to have you. Given that you haven't quite figured out what you want from life, maybe you should consider an excellent LACS?
