I also have a great variety of Ecs. Presidents for a few clubs and provincial honours for sports. Some national and provincial distinctions for math and phy contests.
My 9th grade mark wasnt very high because my parents were separated. I will write an essay to explain that.
Im mainly concerned with my grade 10 french mark, do you think that will precent me from gaining admission?
What are my chances for the ivies?
Thanks a lot!

9th grade "marks" are pretty much meaningless..
dont "waste" your essay explaining it, talk about what you learned from your parents seperation, say it was a hard time for you, and THAT IS ALL, do not make all these excuses.
foreign languages are not really important..
variety of EC's.. that isn't so good. do you have any passions, ivy league schools look for passion in one area. they look for well-rounded student bodies, not individual students.
your test scores are amazingly high.. you should try for Caltech and MIT.

This may sound like a really dumb question, but how do you take 11 classes the same year? Wouldn't that make for a veeery long school day? at my school we can take a maximum of eight classes.

well. AP CHEM 12 and ap PHY 12 counts for 2 classes. and i fogot to include french 11. so its 12 classes.
so what do you think of my chances?

he might live in canada
he probably does
because he says marks
the canadian grading system is weird. 86 is smallest a-.
so 65 is probably a c

language classes are unimportant, especially if you apply to engineering/science schools, like CalTech and MIT, who don't even take it into consideration and require 0 years of foreign language

darn. how am i gonna explain my french 10 mark and the jump from 65 - 94? well. i dont want them to think im using excuses... do you think its acceptable if i say that i didn't do well because my parents' separation in 9th grade affected my french 9. but french 10 requires French 9 knowledge, so i didn't do as well. During the summer of 10th grade, i had friends over helping me out with French. So i caught up a bit. I hate this explanation. I think the admission officers might think im just giving out excuses... argg... darn.

i go to a school in dc where my margin is much smaller than most schools, like 95-100 is A, 90-95 is B, 80-90 is C, and 75-80 is D, and F is below, when i apply will they take that into consideration because i have 1 grade that is an 89 and 3 that are below 95
