How do colleges check things like volunteer work or ECs out of school? I know that they can ask your guidance counselor about things like clubs, rank, GPA, and stuff, but what do they do usually? What circumstances do they check? Or how often?

i think they do random checks or if it looks suspicious. I am planning not to be a loser and be honest on my applications. I cannot imagine how a person with any bit of honor and decency could make up stuff on a college application.
