I’m a white and Native American student from a prestigious private school in Vermont. Could you tell me my chances of getting into Tufts? How could I improve my application?

GPA: 3.6ish

SAT: 1400 (690 V, 710 M)

710 M IIC
710 Writing
Will take both over again, along with Spanish Reading

ECs: I’m really worried here b/c I didn’t really participate in clubs until junior year
Baseball (9-12)
Youth Advisory Council (11-12)
Spanish Club (11-12)
School paper (12)
Men’s Chorus (11-12)
Math League (11-12)
Scholar’s Bowl (12)

*the only activity where an official leadership position is even possible is baseball

Costa Rican Humanitarian Foundation (Summer after junior year)
Painted houses, set up computer lab in elementary school, helped distribute 10,000 pairs of shoes to families in poor areas, volunteered in daycare…over 200 hrs

Your GPA is semi-low, but everything else (especially your sats) look great! I wish I knew more about the college you want to get into, but if it's anything like the uc system, I think you should be fine!

I have a question: I'm part Native American, but don't consider myself to be disadvantaged b/c of it (from what I've heard, minority status is supposed to be for ppl whose ancestors have suffered hardships; they may need the extra boost), should I check off the box on the application?

If your are somewhat culturally connected, I would see on problem with it. However if your like 1/128 and have never been near a reservation it's prob dishonest

Reasonable shot I would assume with EC's being the only kinda weak point. Is that GPA weighted or unweighted?
