I am a high school senior with hopes to attend Carnegie Mellon next year. I plan to major in Business. Here's a little bit about myself, and hopefully I can get a few opinions on my chances of admission. I am kind of pinning a lot of hopes on my admission. I feel that my chances are fairly high, but I wanted to know what others think.
SAT I: 1490 (800 verbal, 690 math)
SAT II: Writing, Math IIC, Physics (Taking in early December - I expect close to 800 for writing, close to 700 for math and physics)
AP: European History - 5, American History - 5
GPA: 4.2-4.3 weighted (3.95? unweighted)
Class rank: 7/290
AP Classes: European History, American History, American Government, Physics, Calculus BC, Spanish, English
Honors Classes: Pretty much everything else in the core academic areas
I have taken the most demanding courses possible in my high school, and have received straight A's in them all. I received one B in a semester course in technology education my freshman year, and it was an A one quarter, a B the second, and a B on the final.
Martial Arts (9-12): I have been involved for twelve years, and have been a professional martial arts instructor for four. I teach professionally approximately ten hours a week during school, and more during the summer. I wrote my essay on this subject and how meaningful the experience has been to me.
Cross Country (10-12): Nothing too exceptional in this area.
National Merit Semifinalist (scored 80 V, 73 M, 80 W)
Mother graduated with B.S. in business from Carnegie Mellon.
Father graduated with B.S. in business from Carnegie Mellon.
Mother is currently employed at Carnegie Mellon as a contract specialist.
Your input on my chances of admission is greatly valued. Thank you in advance.
