ok ive been reading hear for a lil while and i might cry because i see people with higher GPA's better classes higher SAT scores and more EC's than i have and they are a stretch to get into schools i want...i have a 3.8 GPA for junior year, i have about a 3.0 overalll (freshman and soph ..) i got a 1200 SAT and havent taken SAT II...my only ec's are just BSC(black student commity) and i played 1 year jv and 1 year var bball...next year my schedule will be
ap bio
ap comp science
english
econ/gov
spanish 4
pre cal
and maybe another elec...something like weight training but im in CA and i want to go to like UCLA, or another UC or USC, or maybe some historically black colleges. morehouse and howard etc. what are my chances

Hey Don't worry. A lot of ppl w/1500+ SAT scores are aiming for ivy-level colleges. You can still get into a lot of good colleges w/your stats. Being black (u mentioned BSC so I'm assuming u are) can help u in a lot of colleges. Try to volunteer or participate in some activity this summer. If u didn't do SAT prep., u could try some (if u have the motivation, a book can work as well as a class). If your SAT doesn't improve, u can still get into some USC's w/that SAT. I don't know about the colleges u mentioned, but try looking @ their websites (generally nameofcollege.edu or try a search engine if that doesn't work) & look under admissions or class profile to see what stats. they require. Since you aren't aiming for Harvard/Yale/etc. (which there is nothing wrong w/that cos probably only like .000001% or so of ppl go there, u really don't need to worry so much). Good luck!
