Just now finishing up my junior year, really wanting to get into Harvard, but I doubt a white male from WV can get in, here's my stats
SAT 1: 1350(750V/600M)
GPA: 4.0 unweighted, not sure how our school weights.
Taking the ACT in about 2 weeks, expecting a 32 or so from it, have yet to take any SAT II's yet.
AP's
English
US History
AP's next year
Bio
Calc
English
Physics (maybe)
I am debating right now wheter to drop latin II and III and take AP chemistry, not too sure.
EC's
Senior Class President
Captain Debate Team (HFI, states, NFL nats next year,)
Captain Academic Decathalon (nats next year)
President of SADD
Chairman of Student Technology team
Editor of School's newspaper
President of Chess Club
Latin Club
Art Club
2 year baseball varisty letterman (missed 2 years with shoulder)
1 Year varsity wrestling
1 year varsity football (might play next year, more on this later)
Basically there's no way I can get into Harvard on my academics alone, unless I can somehow get 100 points on my math.
How does Harvard deal with athletics? I took a year off of football due to my shoulder, but could easily play this year, be a captain, and be all state. Do I have a better chance getting in by this, or should I just be a geek all summer and pump my scores?
Also, I will be a first generation college student from my family.
I know I can get into any state school eaisly (WVU, Marshall) and wouldn't mind attending Wake Forest, but my true love is Harvard.
Any input would be gladly appreciated.

know someone from WV currently at harvard. had good grades and SATs (but not spectacular), and his varsity sport DEFINITELY helped his admission. Play AND study, that's the H way! And ignore anyone who says not to try.

O yeah, I've got 100 hours of C service at a local hospital, hopefully pick up 50 more this summer, and for the past 6 months I've been the head courtesy clerk at Krogers, cant get promoted to anything else till i'm 18.
Only guy I know from WV at Harvard right now is a kid I used to play baseball with, he was like a B student all his life, turned out like a 1500 on his SAT's and got in.
Is there anyone I could hire to try to help me get into Harvard? Like a mentor or something to kick my ass and help me pump my resume to get it?

Uncchlocalmayor, why do you say that he probably won't get into Harvard? His ECs look excellent and, if he can just bump up his SAT score a bit, he should have a good chance of getting in.

It'll be very tough but it's worth a shot I guess. Don't set your heart on it.
