College Discussion Forums: What Are My Chances?: May 2003 Archive: My chances at the Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry

Hi all,
what do you think are my chances at Hogwarts? He he... poor joke, but I guess a nice attention grabber since you're reading this. Hogwarts does not apply to this board anyways - its a high school ;-).
I'm a sick and stupid guy who did not apply in junior year to college and will wait till next year september to get into college. I'm aiming at MIT, and my scores and ECs are a good combination - almost everyone including someone working at MIT thinks I'll get in if I apply this year. I also found out from drexel univ., which is ready to take me this year itself because of my EC's.
My question, really, is whether it is good to apply now to MIT and wait an year, or to apply to drexel right away, attend an year of college there and then transfer to MIT after that. How, do you think, my chances will be altered? will this transfer process help my chances or negate them?
I'm an international, so it probably won't make a very big difference to me in the difference in quality of the courses taught at MIT and drexel, and anyways the first year mostly has more of general physics maths and the like, so it won't matter much i guess.
I'm anxiously looking for your advice, and would be very very happy if you could give me any.

Yea Mrpotter, that's what I've heard often. Better you stay home and do some more 'witchcraft and wizardry ' and then apply like a good normal student.

And hey, transfering from some real small college will further lower your chances to almost none.

hmm. you could consider take some college classes but not enroll as a student pursuing a degree though. =)

Good idea. You mean, the summer school things? do some colleges enrol people for specific classes too?
