Hello,
How useful are median ACT scores for assessing an academic fit for a college? Dearest D went to Princeton Review for the Counselor-O-Matic feature and the good matches had median ACT scores that were 3-5 points lower than her ACT composite. Is this standard practice to help students select a college where success is most likely? Thanks in advance.

I found the Counselor-O-Matic unhelpful in assessing fit for my S, but others seem to have had better results.
Still, since SAT scores are more often used to assess selectivity, you may consider converting your D's ACT scores into SAT scores (ggogle the conversion chart) and use the list published by USNWR to check for academic fit.
