I'm looking for somebody that has used Tuition Insurance before. I read a previous thread regarding the topic; any experience with the topic would be greatly helpful! By "use," do you mean having filed a claim? Just to clarify.

No we did not get tuition insurance. We did not think it was worth it. You have to take a calculated risk that if things are going all right, then why won't your kid be able to attend the college...it was around $245 a semester.

We took the same calculated risk.

Nikkeila, I e-mailed you directly. We did use tuition insurance, filed a claim, and were reimbursed.

We purchased the insurance for our son's first year because we felt that the risk of a new environment, high cost (CarnegieMellon) which we bore along with loans was too great. The cost was a small fraction of the cost of attendence.
We did not purchase insurance for his 2 and 3rd years since he has proven himself to be throughly adaptable and successful.
Insurance is insurance. If you able to bear the cost of the student's getting sick and dropping out then the value of the insurance is small. If however you cannot bear that cost, then the insurance may be worth the premium. The cost of the insurance is not material.
