Funny little article from the Sunday NYT -- if you're registered you should be able to read it on line, but maybe not for much longer (registration is free).
Mentions "less famous" Columbia alums, on the occasion of the university's 250th anniversary. The best one, IMO, was Bowzer from Sha Na Na.

Today's online edition also has "36 Hours in Cambridge," so for anyone visiting Harvard or MIT, you might find places to eat/stay listed there.

Thanks, Rhonda.
My favorite:
Gerald Klingon (1942): Reputed source name for "Star Trek" aliens.

Oh, yes, that was a good one!
Reminded me that Kermit the Frog was reputedly named after Jim Henson's roommate at Univ of Maryland (who happened to be named "Kermit" for whatever reason).

When I was at Barnard, a long long time ago, we went across the street to hear Sha Na Na singing in a totally informal setting, in whatever the student union was called that many decades ago.

Thanks, Rhonda, somehow I missed that on Sunday.
