I have a dilemma about what to choose for essay topics.

The common app short answer states:

In the space provided below, please describe which of these activities (extracurricular and personal activities or work experience) has had the most meaning for you, and why

And one good choice for the personal statement is:

A range of academic interests, personal perspectives, and life experiences adds much to the educational mix. Given your personal background, describe an experience that illustrates what you would bring to the diversity in a college community, or an encounter that demonstrated the importance of diversity to you.

I'm wondering if it's okay to talk briefly about my summer NASA SHARP internship experience as a whole in my short answer, and then for the personal statement, talk about the diversity (which is a huge factor) which I encountered during the program?

Yale EA requires another essay that is a continuation of the short answer.. so I was thinking of maybe writing more about my actual research experience working at Boeing Satellite Systems, my project and the tests I conducted for it.

However, I'm not sure if it's very advisable to write the 2 essays and 1 short answer about the same event even though it fits the questions very well.... what do you guys think I should do?

Sure. That would be fine -- as long as you want to make the NASA program your main "identity".
