Interesting. Wonder why they didn't mention gapyear.com? Funny, the GAP YEAR is the standard in so many European countries, yet that article sounds like it is a brand new deal...

Here, an offical "GAP year" is a year spent as a tutor in an English boarding school. A glorified camp job, if you ask me. It's a century old tradition.

Are your S's taking a GAP Year Marite?

No. I just happened to read the Daily Princetonian.
In fact, the Princeton application has a prompt that asks applicants what they would do if they had a year in which to do it. My S thought he would want to do exactly the same things as if he were in college. he's having fun in his college classes right now.

my daughter took a Gap year. SHe volunteered with Americorps. About a 1/5 of the senior class took a gap year. Others found programs through leapnow.com
